Roulette is a game that was first played in European casinos. The star in the game of roulette is the wheel which contains 38 pockets, numbered 0, 00, and 1 through 36. When you play roulette, the wheel is spun in one direction and a tiny white ball is released into the wheel in the opposite direction. The object of the game is to try to guess where the ball will land.
The roulette layout follows the alternating style factor where half of the 36 numbers are colored black and the other half are red. The two zeros (0 and 00) are colored green to avoid confusion. According to standard roulette layout both for the table and the wheel, the numbers are also evenly divided into odd numbers and even numbers. When you add all the numbers in a roulette layout, you come up with 366. However, if you add up all the odd or even numbers (18), you only come up with 342. This led many to believe that the roulette layout is less then perfect from a mathematical point of view.
Roulette Layout: Placing the Bets
You can make as many bets as you want in a single roulette spin. This is allowed as long as you bets do not go beyond the set table limit. All these bets that you can make on a roulette layout are categorized into two basic types – the inside bets and the outside bets.
The standard roulette layout is comprised of a three-column segment representing all the numbers in a roulette wheel – 0, 00, and 1-36. The bets you make on this part of the roulette layout are called inside bets. Outside this red-black segment of single numbers, the roulette layout also has a portion where you can make bets on groups of numbers – 1-12, 13-24, 25-36, 1-18, even, red, black, odd, 19-36. These best on the roulette layout are called outside bets.
Placing your bets on roulette layout can be as simple as putting your chips on top of a number. However, since roulette also involves bets of several numbers, you can also place your chips on the line separating two or more numbers.
Roulette Layout: Inside Bets
In roulette layout, there are six types of inside bets you can make. The first is called the Straight Up which is a bet on a single number. You can make as many straight bets as you want on the roulette layout, as long as you don’t exceed the table limit. If your number or numbers hit, the dealer pays you 35:1.
The second type of inside bet is called the Split bet where you place your chip on the line separating two neighboring numbers. If the spin comes up with either numbers, you get paid 17:1. Another line bet you can make on roulette layout is called the Trio or three numbers. Here instead of splitting your bet into two, you split your bet into three parts with a payout of 11:1.
The rest of the inside bets are similar to the other bets, only that the numbers you’re betting for increase and your payout decreases.
Roulette Layout: Outside Bets
When you place outside bets in roulette layout, you have the options to go for Even/Odd, Red/Black, High/Low, Dozens, or Columns. The payouts are significantly lower when compared to inside bets, but your chances of winning are greater since you have more numbers to choose from.
